1st Central racing driver Sebastian Priaulx will compete with HHC Motorsport in the remaining three rounds of the 2017 Ginetta Junior Championship following a ruling by Ginetta to suspend his former team JHR Developments from all their competition.
Announced earlier this week, Ginetta are launching an investigation into the conduct of the team and their employees following the recent situation surrounding the exclusion of Priaulx and two of his team-mates from the Thruxton meeting, which was later successfully appealed at the MSA National Court.
Priaulx himself is not subject to any investigation and Ginetta have confirmed that the inquiry into the team will have no retrospective impact on the drivers, with their championship points being honoured and unaffected.
The news left Guernseyman in the hugely difficult situation of having to change to a new team less than a fortnight before the next rounds of the championship at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby (26/27 August).
Yorkshire-based HHC Motorsport are one of the most successful teams in Ginetta Junior Championship history, having won the Drivers Championship on four occasions (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016), as well as numerous Teams titles and Winter Series successes.
Sebastian Priaulx: “This has been a tough situation to deal with over the past few months and I’m relieved to be going into the final races with a clear mind. Since the appeal, we have enjoyed some really competitive races, including four race victories.
“Naturally we are disappointed to have had to split from JHR Developments, with whom I’ve had some great success over the past eighteen months or so, especially at such a pivotal time of the season with only three meetings remaining.
“This is a matter between JHR Developments and Ginetta however, and we have to respect the decision that has been made. I would like to thank both Ginetta and JHR for all they have done to help me stay on the grid for the rest of the season, and to all my sponsors for their understanding in this situation.
“HHC Motorsport are a highly successful and respected team in the Ginetta Junior paddock. I’m looking forward to working with them and I’m confident we can enjoy a successful end to the season together.”
